Key information for tourists
To provide you with an unforgettable experience, we all need to respect some rules. Please, read carefully the set of rules below and ask us for clarifications, wherever needed. Participation in activities that we organize implies acceptance of the following.
We know very well all the routes that we offer on romaniabybike.com and we took them both in summer (in the specific climate conditions) and late autumn, when temperatures drop and humidity increases.
1. Bicycle, equipment, accessories
Undoubtedly the best bike for touring is your own bike! If you don’t have a bicycle or you cannot carry yours with you, do not worry. We grab the phone and call the bike rental company and here we are! Are you coming with friends or family? Just let us know how many you are?
The description of each route always includes recommendations for the most suited type of bicycle. Personal bikes must be in good technical condition, with appropriate adjustments to the type of chosen route and equipped with appropriate accessories. We reserve the right not to allow participation with a bicycle which we consider inappropriate or in poor condition.
It is compulsory to wear a helmet throughout the tours. Perhaps sometimes it can be inconvenient, and keep warm, but it’s an option for avoiding big trouble. Specialized forums are full of stories like this: if I had not worn a helmet when I fell on those rocks …
For less experienced cyclists, especially when it comes to unpaved roads, we recommend wearing extra protective equipment (knee pads, armrests, etc.).
2. Fitness
When choosing a tour it is important to read carefully details like: distance, ascent, road type (road, forest road, rough road, etc.). Such data will be presented separately for each proposed tour. If you ask for a customization of an existing route (presented on our website) or you want to go on a particular route, you will get full details on the difficulty of the new route.
It would be preferable, before tackling a more difficult or longer tour, compared with those that you usually do, to perform a brief medical examination. For further details regarding any aspect of the tours, contact us!
If you ride with us for the first time, we recommend that you choose an easier route to assess your skills.
3. Weather conditions
Depending on weather conditions we reserve the right to change or cancel itineraries/schedule. These changes will be made jointly with participants, after the analysis of possible solutions, but the group leaders will have the final word. In such situations, participants will not get any material compensation.
We do everything possible to avoid unpleasant events, but there are many aspects which we cannot control. Cycling can be a dangerous sport when practiced without taking the most appropriate safety measures. Therefore, we can not be held responsible for injuries and/or damage to property that may occur because of negligence of the participants, their faulty equipment, road conditions and any other factors not strictly depending on the group leaders.
